From Brandon: Its Brandon from Canada. Drove over to Detroit to check out Velvet Revolver tonight& it was an incredible show although it had a few parts I could have done without. Apparently the crowd there was much more mean to one another than at most concerts of it s size. People were pushing pretty badly (I had some minor injuries), and it was tough to stay close&but I cant say that I didnt push back at all. I was pretty much right up front&arms length from Slash at points, however he missed my hand when he shook hands. Also didnt have any luck with getting a hold of any picks or set list, and I was too fired up to bother attempting to remember the order. Seemed to be the same songs that have already shown up on the news page of your site, however definitely a different order. After the show my friends and I hung out and hoped for autographs. First out was Duff, who was very patient in signing all the items he possibly could. He was polite however didnt really seems to have much to say, but after a concert who could blame him. Next out was Scott, who according to some of the bouncers, etc&isnt much into doing autographs but he came out and did a few, but left half of us (myself included) without a signature. But it was good that he is being more personable then he is view from past experience. Matt strolled out a bit after that, however he went straight too the tour bus. Was a bit upset about that, but when he came out about 45 minutes later, he explained that he had to do an interview in the bus&so all was forgiven. J On top of that, Matt was by far the most social. He hung out with us for a bit, and let everyone shoot the Sh#t with him. After waiting 2 and a half hours, we had seen Dave go into the bus, and all that was left was Slash&whom was the key autograph I was hoping for&or at least a chance to meet him. After the entire wait, he finally came out surrounded by a couple guys and went straight on the bus. Bus left. That was the end of that. My buddies and I have a theory on why Slash didnt come out at all&.it is speculated that he got into the drinks after the show and was a bit tippy&he did look like he was s tumbling a bit&but that is just how it appeared&I certainly wouldnt want to be responsible for saying that he was for sure drunk or even tippy. Long story short&Matt was the best outside of the show&.as for the show itself, the entire thing was incredible although Dave seemed to hold back a fair amount. I might as well share the after the bus left story as well. Seems we got a little lost in the streets of Detroit, driving around in search of a way back to Canada when we stumbled across the tour bus crossing the intersection ahead of us. We knew they were off to Toronto that night&or at least that is what some sources said&so we tried to follow&..we had to wait for a red light and lost them, however our attempt at trailing them did lead us the way we needed to go to get back across the border&.so Slash in a way was our escort back home. But Im completely sore and need sleep. I have 2 disposable cameras used up, and I scanned my tickets before we went&and I have Matt and Duffs signatures on the stubs now&so I will send those in some time soon. From Pete: >hi my name is Pete from Ohio. After a three year layoff since seeing SLASH >with Snakepit in 2001 i was at the Detroit Show at the State Theatre last >night. The doors opened at 6:30 and my friend and I arrived there at 2:00 >to wait at the front of the line for over 4 hours. Before the line actually >formed we were able to wander into the theatre without any hassle, i went to >go and look at the stage, and 20 feet in front of me was a guy on a ladder >whose face i could not see because he was on a ladder doing a photo shoot in >front of a balcony. however, recognizing the left arm tattoo, it was >SLASH...i immediately went into shock and when he came down from the ladder, >my friend Dave and I casually went over to introduce ourselves. Slash was >as nice and casual as most reports before indicated, and we both got to >shake his hand, had a brief conversation, and I had him autograph his name >above my Snakepit '95 album cover art tattoo, before he had to finish up his >photo shoot and then was ushered backstage. I hung out there awhile longer, >saw Matt come do his shoot before we were kicked out the side door by a very >unpleasant lady. > >We got in the doors at about 6:45 and ran right for the front row on the >main floor (there was a main floor, and two balcony levels). The opening >band Silvertide was young and very energetic, some good rock music, and >their hard work and continual building of experience will determine how far >they can go. >After about a 15-20 minute turnover between bands, the lights went down and >Velvet Revolver hit the stage to a ferociously fanatic crowd (being in the >front against the barricade meant having to struggle a lot during the show >for people pushing from behind us, so as not to get crushed). > >>From where i was it was kind of hard to hear 'what' Scott was singing, but >everything was happening 5 feet in front of us!! it was incredible in every >aspect...SLASH's guitar work of inspiration was right there!!!!, Duff was >running all over, and Scott is very gifted with his seductive stage >presence..Matt was in the back on the set almost all night obviously, and >Dave stuck mainly to the side of the stage opposite where i was....after the >third song, i had my one free arm stretched out towards SLASH who was right >in front of me and he reached out to my hand, and what i thought was just to >be a quick hand grab, i was surprised and overwhelmed to find the guitar >pick he was just playing with in my fingers (he might have recognized me >from earlier, b/c as far as i noticed he did not do that at any other point >during the concert). > >i cannot recall the setlist, the GNR covers and STP and Nirvana covers were >the same as in previous shows, and all the new stuff kicked ass except for >not knowing the words or being able to hear them really...all of them guys >were so sweaty during the show, and they left it all on stage, and looked >pretty exhausted by the end. Velvet Revolver is the best live band i have >seen to date, and meeting SLASH was more than i expected. I will continue to >be a rabid fan and am looking forward so much more now to June 8th. > >Pete
