SLASH has been a great guest on many TV shows. He's done comedy shows, variety shows, and
even a cartoon show. Mostly he appears as himself and plays guitar or is interviewed. SLASH
is fun to watch and is said to be easy to work with and very professional. Let's hope he
does even more in the coming TV seasons. If you know of some shows that are missing, send the
information (TV show name, date of appearance (just year if you don't have the complete date),
and what he did. Send to SLASH Page. Thanks!
Volkswagen did some commercials of guitar players using special guitars
plugged into speakers made out of Volkswagen. One of the guitar players was the Spinal Tap guy.
The best one was SLASH in his all black and silver outfit with the black and silver VWs and
a black and silver guitar. You can see the commercial on-line at the Volkswagen web site. Click
here for the link. When you get there,
look for the SLASH thumbnail and click on that to see this great commercial.
SLASH appeared on this VH1 special in a section just about him. It was
a show about rock clothing designers, and SLASH showed off a pair of black leather pants that
had been made for him.
Teddy Zigzag played in GNR, was the vocalist/keyboardist in SLASH's Blues Ball, and just
generally has been a friend and fellow musician with SLASH. The Trading Spaces show came
out to Teddy's house to film a makeover. This show is where you trade houses with a neighbor
and change it all over using the ideas and help of the cast. SLASH dropped in to see what
was going on! He looked at the sewing and in general seemed to be in the way! It was a great
episode.
SLASH appeared on the 100th episode anniversary of the cartoon South Park.
The episode was called "I'm A Little Bit Country".
This show was about the tatoos that that various rockers have. He had a section all to himself
and showed all his cool tats. Right now (early 2005), he has the SLASH one on his right
bicep and the DTUD (drink till u drop) one on his left bicep. On his back, there is the
Snakepit logo on his left shoulder and his wife's lips smoking on his right shoulder. On his
tummy, he has a wacky cat to the right of his belly button and below it. Then he has his wife's
name Perla on his left arm and the two sons' names around his middle (London and Cash). Quite a
few!
SLASH appeared on this VH1 show. He had a section of the show all to himself. He appeared with
his snakes.
SLASH appeared with MJ at his tribute. They played some songs together and some with the
Jacksons. The venue was in New York City. This was the night before the World Trade Center bombings
and SLASH was still in the City at the time. He was uptown though and left by car shortly thereafter.
SLASH co-hosted the Jimmy Kimmel Live
show, and he did a great job. Other guests came and went during the
week including SLASH's friend, Robert Evans, but SLASH anchored the
couch. One evening he played with the studio band, and they rocked! A
great week for SLASH fans. To read all about it, go to the News sections
in the March 2003 archives.
SLASH is a great friend of legendary producer
Robert Evans (The Godfather, Rosemary's Baby, etc.). Evans had an idea
for a limited run comedy cartoon comedy series based on his adventures.
He called this "Kid Notorious", and one of the running characters is
his pal, SLASH. SLASH appears in cartoon version as himself and his own
voice is used in the series. For more information, see the October 2003
of the archived News.
"Space Ghost" is a really wacky
cartoon show with a
Space Ghost cartoon followed by some funny interchanges between Host Space Ghost and
one or more guests. Many rockers have appeared on this show.
In the episode featuring SLASH, Hulk Hogan was another guest. SLASH was so funny! Click on Space Ghost below
for a transcript of
the SLASH part of the show:
"Tales From The Crypt" was a scary show featuring the
Cryptkeeper introducing each epispode. SLASH appeared in this episode as a
successful disc jockey.
He was dressed in his leather clothes and top hat. He didn't have too many lines, but
he spoke his very easily. He did a nice job and was very believable. And he didn't kill
anyone or become psychotic!
"The Drew Carey Show" is a
comedy show. Drew Carey likes
rock music, and sometimes he has rockers on as guests. In this show,
SLASH plays himself. Drew Carey is looking to put his old band
together from high school, but they need a lead guitarist.
He holds auditions, and all
kinds of guitar gods turn up! And one of them is SLASH. The verdict from the band
is to get rid of SLASH because he will make the rest of the band look
horrible. SLASH offers that he
can play show tunes, but the Drew Carey band decides to pass on SLASH.
Together since 1975, Penn and Teller's award-winning theater and magic
show has been a long
running hit on and off-Broadway. The duo keeps a busy touring schedule,
performing live more than 100 times this year alone. The pair’s most recent and most ambitious project is their weekly, Emmy
nominated variety series, Penn & Teller’s Sin City Spectacular,
is on the Fx Network.
Taped on location in Las Vegas, the show features appearances by top movie,
television and music stars, eclectic variety performers and new, never before seen
Penn & Teller magic tricks. SLASH has been on the show twice. His first appearance
was as part of the studio band. Penn & Teller were doing a magic trick right in front of the
band, so SLASH was easily seen.

Penn & Teller magic tricks. SLASH has been on the show twice. In his second
appearance, SLASH had his own segment of the show and performed his famous "rat in the hat"
trick for Penn & Teller. Before and after the trick, SLASH did some of the best guitar
soloing we've heard! He seemed very relaxed doing his trick, and of course during his solo.
It was a thrill to see SLASH onstage alone, facing that sophisticated Vegas audience, and
seeing them all cheer when he finished. The show's guest list was:
Snake (with Alice Cooper), Long Twins (contortionists), Balloon of Blood, Andy
Dick's Salute to Tap Dancing, Slash (with a magic trick), Jimmy Pardo, Table Top
Theater, Space Hog, Forever Tango, Who's On First with Penn & Gilbert Gottfried.
"Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher" is first and foremost
a comedy show. The format is a four member group discussion of some topical issues.
Given the diversity of the guests, ranging from movie stars to politicians to
musicians to writers, the debate sometimes gets heated and often turns intelligently
funny. The term "politically incorrect" is used to mean "conservative", but Bill Maher
contends the term really means "honest". SLASH has appeared on the show twice. On
this show, he appeared with an athlete, the man who writes the best dressed list, and
a woman. SLASH was funny and made some interesting comments.

show, SLASH seemed in good spirits. He contributed to the discussion on "do we really
need to know this?" items in the news. SLASH told a story about his experiences with the
airlines when he became hostile during a flight. The discussion concerned the many
incidences of passenger hostility and violence and what could be done. SLASH said not
being able to smoke is a problem, but if they take away liquor (which other guests
suggested), people will dive out of the plane. He said he once had to be restrained on
a flight from Australia because it was so long and boring. Give him his guitar!!
ESPN had the idea of doing a short
sports feature before the
Steeler game they would broadcast on
November 9 (Pittsburgh vs. Baltimore). This would feature
two cool guys who both play super well and are both
named SLASH! So guess which cool SLASH came to Pittsburgh?? SLASH was so great! He really rocked
Pittsburgh. Kordell "Slash" Stewart" had been playing three
positions for Pittsburgh: quarterback, running back and wide receiver. He did so well at
quarterback, that he was taken off the other positions and became the quarterback of this NFL
team.
The ESPN caption said "SLASH - formerly of
Guns N'Roses". And then they showed Kordell
Stewart and it said "Slash - formerly RB/WR".
DirecTV had
SLASH appear on a show called History of Pinball. His
section of the show was all SLASH - he knows the
machines and the game THAT well. He designed the Guns
N'Roses pinball game which is the loudest game ever made! Who do you
think came up with that idea!? SLASH talks about the GNR pinball game and
pinball itself. Interesting to see a SLASH hobby!

despite confetti and
balloons raining down and a staged fight between some former presidents
on the floor beside him.
And to see a clip from the Elected video, check out
SLASH's video page by returning to the Main Menu and clicking on
