SLASH's real name is Saul Hudson. He was given the nickname "SLASH" by a family
friend when he was a boy. He has no middle name.

Please do not send valuable items such as guitars through the mail.
The best way to get your guitar signed is to take it to
a SLASH's Snakepit show. SLASH is almost always available after soundcheck and
after the show to sign autographs.
Right now the 'pit is not using backstage passes for other than their own group.
After the show, you can almost always see SLASH for an autograph and quick chat.
SLASH often goes to clubs - sometimes for relaxation and sometimes to join in
with whatever band is onstage. He's been seen at the The Baked Potato most
often on evenings when the Screaming Cocktails are playing. Check The Spud's
website at www.thebakedpotato.com for times when the Cocktails are playing.
He's also been seen less frequently jamming at the House of Blues. At either
club, you will see a great show made better if SLASH appears. Sometimes you
can find SLASH having a drink at the Rainbow - he might be outside or inside,
so check that out!
SLASH says that he will return to GNR whenever Axl Rose decides he wants to
make a GNR rock album. SLASH is not interested in techno-industrial music
and has no desire to be in a band that plays that kind of music. SLASH is
just a phone call away if and when Axl decides to give the Guns fans a rock
album.
SLASH is divorced from his former wife, Renee Suran. SLASH married Perla
Ferrar in October 2001. They are expecting their first child in September.
SLASH has always really liked reptiles and has many for pets. His pets
are well taken care of and are not used as part of his stage show. When
SLASH put in his new home studio, the Snakepit '95 band began to call the
studio Snakepit. Now this name and SLASH's signature drawing of the skull
in a top hat are painted on the wall of the stairway leading down to his
basement studio. SLASH's brother designed the original snake logo for
Snakepit '95, and the logo appears on tshirts, stickers and other promotional
items. Snakepit '99 is using the same logo.
Yes! With help from SLASH, Gibson designed and manufactured the Snakepit
signature guitar. It's bright red with the snake logo and a mother of pearl
snake. The Gibson Custom Shop created this for SLASH. Now Epiphone puts
out a less expensive version. This guitar is said to be a winner, too.
Read more about this in the Equipment and Techniques section. Marshall
built a SLASH signature amplifier that comes with a (fake) snakeskin cover.
The amp specifications are also found on the Equipment and Techniques section
of this web site. SLASH designed a beautiful doubleneck that Guild is
marketing under the name Crossroads. SLASH's own Crossroads is green, and
SLASH calls it "Godzilla".
SLASH appeared in the Clint Eastwood movie, "The Dead Pool". The five original
GNR members were together briefly on camera, but they had no speaking parts. SLASH
was selected to fire off a harpoon in the movie. SLASH appeared in the Howard
Stern autobiographical movie, "Private Parts". His wife, Renee, and SLASH appeared,
but Renee had the small speaking part. And SLASH appeared in "The Underground
Comedy Movie". As for TV, SLASH appeared on "Tales of the
Crypt" where he played a disc jockey and did have a speaking role. He was very
believable! He has also appeared on the "Drew Carey Show" where he played himself,
Pet Shop where he appeared with his pet albino boa, Late Night with Letterman where
he appeared by himself playing with the studio orchestra and also with Snakepit '95.
With the Brian May band he guested on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. You might
have caught his solo appearances on Sin City Spectacular (Penn & Teller). Once he
played with the studio orchestra, and once he had a full slot on the show playing
a rocking solo interrupted with a magic trick with Penn & Teller. In the UK, he
was on Late Night With Jools. He has appeared innumerable times on MTV in the States
and Europe. The performance list continues. Please check the TV, Video and
Net Appearances Section for current listings.
SLASH organized many bands before GNR. None of these bands was signed or produced
an album but were great learning experiences for SLASH. The best known of these is Road Crew. Both
SLASH and Steven Adler were in this band.
SLASH put SLASH's Blues Ball together first. They were a blues cover band, so they
were ready to go quickly. Blues Ball never released an album or a single. Some
bootleg audios and videos remain. SLASH decided to have a more permanent band; one
with original songs and one that would produce albums. He put together Snakepit '99
and that is his band at the present time.
For a complete list of SLASH's influences, check the SLASH Bio on this web site.
Some influences were Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Eric Clapton, the Rolling Stones,
Jeff Beck, Neil Young.
The exact number varies as SLASH buys and sells what he has. The collection currently
stands at over 90 beautiful, working guitars.
SLASH is a pinball wizard! He's been playing for a long time. It's a good way
to relax and have a good time with friends. SLASH has a room full of pinball games at
his house! He has worked with Data East on the design of two pinball games that can
be found in arcades, the Guns N'Roses game and the Viper game. The GNR game is
special for GNR fans. Each ball represents a band member, and the object of the game
is to get all the balls (band members) on the board (stage) so that the music (show)
can begin. The Viper pinball game has music played by SLASH. You can see references
to SLASH and Snakepit on the game surface. SLASH is said to be working on a Snakepit
game design.
The best place to get Snakepit bootlegs is where you find other bootlegs. Check
out Yahoo, and you'll find a lot of traders listed. GNR traders are more
likely to have SLASH solo bootlegs. Goldmine has bootleg ads in its
classified section. You can buy bootlegs at the ebay auction. The fastest
way to get a line on the boot you are looking for, is to contact someone
who is a SLASH fan or GNR fan.
No Blues Ball album was ever released. Once SLASH said he would do a live
Blues Ball album, but it never came out.
You can find the most complete SLASH discography on the SLASH page.

Discography. There are listings of all SLASH's guest appearances,
appearances on radio shows, interviews, etc.
You can find tabs for SLASH songs on the SLASH page. Go to
www.snakepit.org, scroll to Main Menu, and click on Guitar Tabs.
Then scroll down to the Tabs Menu and pick the song you want. Some
songs have 2 or 3 sets of tabs.
You can find the SLASH bio on the SLASH page. Go to www.snakepit.org,
scroll to Main Menu and click on SLASH bio. It's as complete as the
available information.
Yes! SLASH recently completed a home recording studio in the basement
of his home. It is a professional quality, analog recording studio.
There are pictures available in several magazines, including "Home
Recording". Some pictures are available in the Current Events section
of the SLASH page. Recently, SLASH sold his home that had the Snakepit
studio in the basement. He now rents studio space as needed.
While Izzy Stradlin and Duff McKagan were dropped, SLASH was not.
Izzy and Duff are moving on to indie labels or are setting up their
own labels.
The fan club is run by a private company that oversees several celebrity
clubs. Check www.fansource.com for information.
The tour schedules, some audio and video clips, and some photos exist on
the SLASH page. Under Main Menu, look for Snakepit 95 and Blues Ball.
Look at the SLASH Video section as there are videos for both there.
On the SLASH page, look at the News section. This page is
updated frequently depending on what SLASH is doing. Please read this
section before writing the SLASH page to ask what SLASH has been doing
the past year.
SLASH was born on July 23, 1965.
Even though you are visiting L.A., SLASH is really only interested in having
his friends visit at his home. His address and phone number are never given
out.
Yes, there are several of these on the SLASH page. For videos, scroll to
Main Menu and click on SLASH Videos. For audio clips, look for the
specific subject like Blues Ball, Snakepit 95, Snakepit 99, etc.
SLASH has five tattoos. On his upper right arm he has what looks like
a barechested woman with hair like his and a sign with SLASH on it. On
his upper left arm is the tophatted skull with the initials D.T.U.D.
(Drink Til U Drop) and the words FOREVER and UNTILL [sic]. On his back
are two more. On his right shoulder is a pair of red, sensuous lips
smoking a cigarette. On his left shoulder is the Snakepit logo.
The latest tat is of a cat smoking a cigarette with a red tip.
SLASH sketched it! It is on his right abdomen.
To
complete the inventory, Slash
has a nose ring and a belly ring. His ears are pierced.
