From Clement: I went to both LA shows and this band just keeps getting better! June 8th: Arrived at the venue at 6pm and there were probably already 200 in line. Luckily, I ran into some friends that I had made from the Roxy show who snuck me in line with them. We ended up against the rail, in front of where Dave stands... VR was scheduled to take the stage at 9pm (confirmed by security people). But the big buzz of the night was the Lakers game. A lot of people were not in there seats and were watching out in the lobby. Even worst, the game went into overtime. The game ended at about 9:20 and people started filing in at that point. It was thought the game was the reason for the delay (this apparently was not the case b/c there was also a long wait the 2nd night). At 9:45, the band finally took the stage and they sounded amazing! Since we were right in front of Dave and Duff's amps, the mix was a littl off for us, but you can tell it sounded alright everywhere else. They limit people into the front of the pit and it made it a much mellower pit, but very enjoyable if you were in there. All 4 guys worked the entire stage and everyone was in a great mood especially since the Lakers won (Slash even made a comment about this. He spoke a lot more than he used to and even had a story to tell about his top hat. Said he was only going to wear it once at the Roxy show, but then Scott said he really show take it on the road with him. Said he was embarrassed that people love the hat more than him!). Of course there were 2-3 drunk guys in the middle of the pit and Scott had to say a few words between songs to calm him down... Ended up getting a pick from Duff and a very well-used drumstick from Matt (got it right after they finished Set Me Free). Absolutely awesome show! JUNE 9th Very much of the same, except I had a seat upstairs instead of being in the pit. I snuck in my camera and got some ok shots, along with 4-5 short clips. The sound mix was much better upstairs as I was dead-center. The band once again took their time in coming on stage (9:45 again and about 1hr 20 min after the openers were done). After the show, I decided that for once, I would hang around and see if I can catch the band coming out. One by one, the guys did come out, but I missed Slash and Dave. People weren't sure exactly what side of the building they would come out from... Duff pulled out in his BMW and was driving off and literally 20 kids ran after his car. He was stopped at a ran light and signed autographs for probably 60 seconds. Matt drove out in his red Corvette convertible. He had security around him and said he was going to sign for everybody, but didn't want his car scratched. I got a drumhead signed.... Scott was the last one out and had a limo waiting for him. His siloutte could be seen through the 2nd story windows of the WIltern. He was dancing and shaking as if he was still on stage. I was standing right next to the limo with a set list from the El Rey show (already signed by Matt, Duff and Slash). Scott said his wife was waiting for him at home and said he could only sign 3. For some reason, he came right towards me and signed my set list first! He then signed a few more for others on the other side of the barricades then hopped into his limo and that was about it. Saw Juliet Lewis walked towards her car afterwards. Also saw Drew Barrymore hang out (near the crowd that was waiting for the band). She was just chatting with a few friends and everybody around was there to meet the band that no one even realized that that was DREW BARRYMORE! A few of us noticed that was her, but no one approached her. She's much taller and skinnier than appear on screen.... I had Vegas tix for tonight. I'm so bummed that I can not go. A few of my fellow VR friends that went to both LA shows are going to Vegas, and I'm so envious.
