The gig was fantastic! The band played for 90+ minutes and played most of the songs from Contraband, except Loving the Alien, and I’m pretty sure they didn’t play Spectacle which was disappointing. Scott and Slash seemed maybe a little tired at the start of the show, but both really picked up as the show went on Scott is an amazing front man the best Slash has ever worked with, and Slash’s solos just got better and better as the night wore on! Duff was awesome, really playing to the crowd, and Matt was great and sung a lot more backing vocals than I’d expected. Dave was a powerhouse! He was really getting into the songs, headbanging and playing his heart out! He didn’t move around the stage much though, and maybe it was just because I was over at the right of the stage (Slash’s side), but I couldn’t hear Dave’s guitar much it just didn’t seem to be very loud which was a bummer because the rhythm guitars are so tight and full-sounding on the album! Highlights Slash and Dave trading solos at the end of Set Me Free (Dave audible, but not as loud as Slash), seeing Fall to Pieces, Slither and You Got No Right (my fave off the album) played live, and the band also played I Used To Love Her!!!! The only bummer was the sound as well as Dave’s guitar being soft (although like I said it could have just been my position relative to the speakers), I think the band were overloading the house speaker system in the really heavy parts, because there was a LOT of distorting and not the good kind a lot of white noise which my earplugs thankfully blocked out when I had them in that is! An awesome show with the greatest highlight (of course) being seeing Slash play live!!!!! Cheers, Nick
