From Vicki: I wanted to get as early as possible to the venue to get a place in line. I explained to my friend that it was general admission way before I ever bid on the tickets, and he said that was all right. Well, we got to The Electric Factory and were maybe about the 40th people in line there at 5:45. The sun was boiling down on us as we stood there on the street, and we got sunburned. I wasn't leaving-- I'd paid all that money for tickets, and I was going to use these tickets-- plus all that money for the plane tickets and the hotel. When we finally got in, I could have had a pretty close spot to the stage to stand, but it didn't work out. We ended up against this high railing, where security sat right behind it. And I was leery of standing there because I could see us getting smashed against it with no room to move. Linda, there were two young teen boys, tall, of course, who got in front of me. I couldn't see over them. The opening band, Living Things, came on about 8:30 and were not good, but I really don't know if people were booing because they'd stood so long in line to get in, stood so long for Living Things to get on the stage, knowing they'd have to endure standing through their set and the equipment removal, etc., or if they really were all that bad. I think they did their best, though, and I was getting a kick out of watching how earnest they were. As the singer/frontman said, "We are all just fucking living things." Right on, brother. VR got on the stage about 10, and I couldn't see. Slash really played so wonderfully well. I knew Slither, Set Me Free, Mr. Brownstone and I Used to Love Her (of course) and that stupid STP song, Sex-Type Thing, which I always loathed, but several songs that they didn't announce the names I didn't know. They played Fall to Pieces and Do It for the Kids, and I knew that because they said so. I looked at Scott as little as possible because I don't care so much for him. Duff said a few words and looked really good. I hardly even looked at Matt or Dave. Someone must have been saying something about Axl because Slash told them to shut up and said something about he knew how a gig in Philly had been screwed up but that he had nothing to do with it and said something about the 'redhead', but I didn't understand what he was referring to. Slash said they were in Philly because he just liked it there. When those two little boys were still in the crowd, Scott said something about they were bringing back music to fuck to, and Slash was raising his arm up in agreement, and I thought why would you bring little kids to a show like that??? They stopped playing at 11:20
