From Nathan: My name is Nathan from Shelby MO. I got to see Slash for my first time at the St. Louis VR show. It was by far the best concert I have ever attended. Slash's guitar was mind-blowing! Slash and G'n'R have been my favorites since Appetite came out. The new music sounded great. I thought that Scott did a really good job on all of the G'n'R songs, too. I got to meet Slash, Duff, and Matt after the show. I can't find words to describe how cool they all were! They all signed my new VR t-shirt! They were so cool. They all acted just like regular guys, and they thanked us for welcoming them back. My life is now complete. They played two encores. Slash put his tophat on for the last one. There were lots of shirts for sale. There were even some cool pink ones for girls. I got to meet them outside the club. It was raining so not many people stuck around after the show. There were only about 30 of us. After they got done signing things for people, they stuck around and just talked with us for 30 minutes or so. At one time Matt and Duff went on the bus, then came back out because they said they were bored on the bus. It was awesome. From Brian: I got back Saturday from my VR trip. Let me just say Velvet Revolver are amazing. I had high expectations about seeing this band and they still blew me away. We arrived in St. Louis to a steady down pour of rain around 4:30pm on Thursday. After scrambling to find a hotel room, we got in line at The Pageant around 7pm. When we got in the venue we bolted for the front of the stage drenched from the rain. Silvertide came on a little after 8pm. They are entertaining and fun to watch but we'll see how far they will go. During the 45 long minutes between bands, the sold out Pageant was becoming restless. One guy was kicked out only minutes before the band came on. Finally, about 9:30pm the lights were cut and Velvet Revolver took the stage. The dark stage became filled with familiar silhouettes and the moody intro to 'Sucker Train Blues' began to ring out. Seconds later the band exploded into the guts of the new song and place erupted. The lean and mean VR rip into a handful of new songs with all of their rock n' roll prowess. On stage the guys play with ferocious energy, feeding off of the intense crowd. Weiland slither's around effortlessly as Slash zig zags between Duff and Dave cool as ever. Since it is an all star band it's hard to focus on one guy. They all have a commanding stage presence. The new music is amazing. 'Headspace' & 'Fall to Pieces' make June 8th seem like 10 years away. I wanted to sing along but that's tough to do when you don't know the songs. The highlights: Weiland stage diving during It's So Easy (that cost him his ear monitors for the show), Slash playing some killer guitar through a talk box, the awesome new VR songs & not getting pummeled in the mosh pit. The next day we made the trek to Kansas City from St. Louis for show number two. We weren't as close for this one but it still rocked. I managed to sneak in a camera and take a few pics. Overall they are not that great but I think a couple turned out ok. I will send them along soon. I would have had a few more shots on my camera but during 'Mr. Brownstone' a security guy came over and took my batteries away. He gave them back after the show though. whew! Anyway, it was amazing to be at the first two shows. The opener in St. Louis is a show I will never forget.
