SOUNDTRACKS
Velvet Revolver made their first public debut with soundtracks. First, they covered "Money" in Paramount Pictures' The Italian Job. Then they did an original, Set Me Free for Universal Pictures' The Hulk. The band held a meeting in the studio for studio execs around this time to show what they could do and solicit offers for movie soundtracks. They were offered work up through 2004. This section on Soundtracks could be a big one for them!

"Money" from The Italian Job Paramount
Pictures features a 2003 cover of Pink
Floyd's "Money". Debut song for Velvet
Revolver. Played during the movie
as well as throughout the credits. Not
available on the recorded CD soundtrack.

Debut Album: Contraband

Velet Revolver completed their debut album on 12/21/03. The album was mixed, mastered and turned over to their record label. The album release date is set for June 8, 2004. The delay allows the label to arrange and conduct promotional tours and Scott Weiland to settle his legal and drug problems. The title of the new album is Contraband. Scott Weiland christened it, and it's appropriate for Scott and a great album title. The album has 13 tracks. SLASH always said he'd have the debut album out by 12/31/03, and he beat that date by 9 days. Great work, SLASH and Velvet Revolver!

Of the 13 tracks, the band has selected "Slither" as the first single off the album. "Slither" is scheduled for radio play beginning mid-April and will be released commercially one month later. The version of "Set Me Free" will not be exactly the same as the one on the soundtrack. The second single is not yet set. The album was released June 8 in the US and June 7 in Europe. While the contents are the same inside, the paper cover is available in white, black and red.

The tracks on Contraband are:

01. Sucker Train Blues
02. Do It For The Kids
03. Big Machine
04. Illegal i Song
05. Spectacle
06. Fall To Pieces
07. Headspace
